MEMO GOTLAND RUN 2024

FRIDAY JULY 5

From 3 pm. it’s possible to pick up the keys for your room. You pick them up from a safety locker inside the main entrance of Visby Fängelse. You stay two people in each room. Sheets and towels are included. You will receive an SMS with the; door code, room number and where you can find the key. 
5 pm. Dinner and race meeting at Sjumastarn. The restaurant outside the hostel.

SATURDAY JULY 6

7 am. The bus leaves from the parking outside the hostel. We will make a break on the way to the start where you will be served breakfast.
10 am. The race starts outside the small cabin Oscars where you hopefully will be back sometime during the following 10 days.  

 RULES IN SHORT

You are given a GPS-map (Google maps) and a GPX-file to follow. You can leave the course at any point but you have to backtrack to where you left the course and start from there. 

You can’t ask for help or items but you can accept what is offered. You are not allowed to get into any kind of vehicle. Exceptions; if you are ordered into a police car or need to use an ambulance. You are not allowed to get into any private persons house.

You are responsible for taking care of yourself, hotel, food and supplies.

Every day at 10 am you must have traveled at least 50k on average per day according to the Google map to be allowed to continue the race. Diplo will chase you!

MAPS AND MARKINGS ALONG THE COURSE 

The Google map has markings/check points (CP) every single k. You’ll find a link to the map at www.runtrip.se. On the website you’ll also find a GPX-file to download. On the real roads there will be signs marking the bike path around Gotland. There are at least 3 points where the given maps don’t correspond with the road signs. The first point is at 133k where you turn left and follow the road on the coast line. The second point is, when you arrive in Fårö. The road signs will tell you to go to the right but you should follow the map and keep to the left. At 445k you should follow the map and make a turn to the left, but the markings will tell you to continue straight ahead. This point is probably the easiest turn to miss. There are also two points where the bike route goes across the island and you will see markings in two directions. Always keep to the left in those situations and always follow the GPX or the GPS and you will be fine. 

ANGEL STATIONS

At the Angel Stations you will find shelter for wind and rain. You will also find some kind of drinks and energy. At some stations you will be able to charge your electric devices and even take a shower.. There are 5 known Angel Stations; 

Angel Station 1, Hangvar bygdegård, located at 101k
Angel Station 2, Secher/Plantoft Residence, located close to 196k
Angel Station 3, Hejnum Kyrka, located at 264k
Angel Station 4, The stable, located at 362k
Angel Station 5. Fidenäs, located at 398k & 459k (You will pass it twice)

THE FERRY BETWEEN GOTLAND AND FÅRÖ

The ferry leaves every 30 minutes. Between 10 pm and 5:30 am the ferry needs to be called upon. Dial + 46 771 65 65 65.

TRACING SYSTEM

Twice a day at 10 am and 10 pm you will have to check in through our tracking system. The system will suggest the nearest kilometer mark/check points (cp) to where you are located. If your suggested location along the course is incorrect it will be possible to change it manually, just type the number of the last kilometer that you have passed. 

If you plan to sleep at the time for check in, it’s okay to do an early check in. Visit https://gr511k.naraki.se/ to check in. Your personal login is the same as your race number. You will receive your personal pin code when the race starts.

Your friends, family and ​​ admirers can follow your progress at www.runtrip.se.

ACCOMMODATION IN VISBY THE NIGHT BEFORE THE RACE

You will stay at Visby Fängelse the night before the race. The rooms are available from 3 pm Friday, July 5. 

RACE MEETING/LAST SUPPER

Is held at Restaurant Sjumastaren at 6 pm Friday, July 5. The Restaurant is located next to Visby Fängelse. Sjumastaren serves pizza, grilled meat and fish.

BREAKFAST

Breakfast will be served at the break on our way to the start. . 

TRANSPORT TO START

Pickup in the parking lot just outside the entrance to Visby Fängelse at 7.00 am. The transport leaves at 7 am sharp. Bring the belongings that you would like us to take care of during the race. Make sure to be there in time!

CUT-OFF

You must have traveled at least 50k on average per day at check in at 10 am. If not, your contest is over on the current day. Diplo will chase you!

LEAVING THE RACE

You can choose to leave the race at any time. Just call the race director and you will be picked up by car and driven back to Visby. If you choose to leave the race, this must always be communicated to the race director, even if transport back to Visby is done on your own. If you are forced to leave the race due to an accident or illness, the race director must be notified as soon as possible. Race director + 46 73 5450547.

At 10 am, in front of the small cabin Oskars, located in Langstiteviken.

 

FINISH

At the small cabin Oskars,  located in Langstiteviken. Your belongings, that were handed in before start, will be returned here.
